(4-2006) Seven Days Battles: Mechanicsville/Beaver Dam Creek

Single battle, fought on June 26th, 1862. Goes by both names and the two battlefields are more or less adjacent. The area in Mechanicsville where the fighting took place has been lost to development for many years. Small fragment of the Beaver Dam Creek battlefield survives
 
The Seven Days Battles were fought between June 25 and July 1st 1862. The opening skirmish was fought at Oak Grove, adjacent to the old Seven Pines battlefield on the 25th. Unfortunately, the battlefield has been lost to development and to Richmond International Airport

Beaver Dam Creek today, looking north. Union positions on the right. The Confederates charged down the slopes to the left to the creek. The slope today is largely covered with back yards of houses. Meade's brigade of Pennsylvania Reserves occupied the position in front, a brigade under Truman Seymour occupied the position to south
