Site Marker: Here the Confederate Cavalry commanded by Maj. Gen. Thomas Green stopped the Federal advance in a stiff fight ending at dark on April, 7. The two forces bivouacked on opposite sides of this stream. Green withdrew most of his forces before dawn to a point near Mansfield, leaving Gen. Bee with two regiments to delay the Federals. The 13th and 19th Corps moved from Pleasant Hill to this point on the morning of the 8th
