(November 27, 2010Enlarge Bailey's Dam Interpretive Marker

This interpretive marker at the Bailey's Dam pavilion overlooking the Red River tells of Lt. Col. Joseph Bailey's design and the construction of the swing-dam that bore his name. A war-time map of the location of the dam is also on the marker to help the visitor imagine where the dam was located and how it looked

(April 2008 Enlarge Confederate Monument at Rapides Parish Courthouse in Alexandria. This photo was taken in the afternoon on April 12, 2008. The monument was erected using money collected from the sale of silver spoons. One of the silver spoons is on display at the historical society
