Enlarge "End of the
Williamsburg Line" Interpretive Panel
This interpretive panel is located at the ditch near CSA Redoubt #12. The
panel explains the Confederate second line of defense along the Peninsula
and the denotes the locations of other readouts/earthworks. Both CSA
Redoubts #12 & #13 were unoccupied at the time of the Battle of
Williamsburg, but the panel explains fighting took place very near the New
Quarter Park sign at the entrance to the park
At the time this photo was taken on July 6, 2013, almost all of these
Williamsburg Line sites shown on the panel were inaccessible to the
general public. CWA has pages for the accessible Redoubts #1 & #2 on
Quarterpath Road as well as Fort Magruder and the redoubt near the Hampton
Inn in Williamsburg. Although open to the public due to rough terrain,
weather conditions, and being on a cliff, Redoubt #13 was not photographed
on July 6, 2013
