(March 17, 2013) Enlarge Near west edge of the cemetery. North view of the right line of the 2d Texas Infantry. Granite marker at right marks the spot where Corporal Thomas J. Higgins, 99th Illinois Infantry, carried the National colors over the Confederate works during the Union assault of May 22. Higgins was immediately captured and was later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. The sign at left marks the Confederate line of the 2d Texas Infantry
