After Shiloh the 48th Ohio passed through LaGrange (camped a night there) and then spent a few weeks at Moscow on their way to Memphis. They arrived in Memphis in late July 1862 and stayed until December on provost guard duty.

The panorama is of the Wolf River from the main highway, looking north toward the railroad bridge. The 48th OVVI rebuilt the RR bridge while they were there. The other shots are taken from a little bridge north of the RR bridge, looking at Wolf River.
