Pitt Street Bridge (Cove
Inlet)
Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Cove Inlet was the site of a trolley bridge connecting Mount Pleasant to Sullivans Island from 1898 to 1927. There was a plank bridge built on Hogs Head barrels across the cove during the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. The Hunley crew passed over the bridge on the way to Breach Inlet to test dive the H.L. Hunley prior to the February 17, 1864 attack upon the USS Housatonic |
