(2010) Enlarge The Smith Civil War Memorial is located in Fairmont Park |
(2010) Enlarge The Smith Civil War Memorial was erected between 1897 and 1912 under a bequest of Richard Smith. Among the military and naval men immortalized here are Generals Hancock, McClellan, Meade, Reynolds, and Admirals Porter and Dahlgren. Surprisingly enough a statue of Richard Smith himself, in his type founders apron, is placed high on the memorial among the military and naval greats |
