(October 2013) Enlarge Funeral Wreath from the first of Grant's three funerals
 
The Cottage still displays two of the wreaths from Grants first funeral. He had 3, one at the cottage, one in Albany, and one in NY City. Over 60,000 people marched in the final funeral parade. Grant was much more popular than the history books in school seem to reflect. At the visitor center with the cottage he is remembered as the man who saved the Union

(October 2013) Enlarge Grant's last trip to the Eastern Overlook

After finishing his book, he made one last visit to the overlook and died in the bed under Lincolns picture a few days later.
