Near this marker are the graves of Confederate soldiers from Texas who died during the war but whose names and exact burial locations on only to God. This is one of many markers in the Blandford Cemetery, where each state of the Confederate states of America has its own markers and plots for it soldiers who died during the war. Each marker is exactly alike except the state name. During the visit on July 5, 2013 each of the markers had a Confederate flag. At the time this photograph was taken the local police were watching so it was felt nothing should be done other than taking a photograph

The Blandford Cemetery is next to the Confederate lines at Petersburg National Battlefield Park. In fact, the cemetery was part of Confederate lines. Blandford Cemetery is still in use, so modern graves can be seen from this position. The photograph was taken near the gazebo which is located next to the Virginia monument. Confederate Gen. Colquitt's salient is noted by the trees in the background. We were told that Robert E. Lee and other Confederate officers viewed the assault on Union Fort Stedman from a position somewhere near where this photograph was taken. Obviously at the time the trees would not have blocked the view.
