(2010) Enlarge This is the road that ran from downtown Tuscaloosa to the covered bridge. A running skirmish took place in this area as the Cadets retreated back into town. The University of Alabama is about a mile to the left of the tall building. A downtown commerce building that is no longer in existence and located near the tall building in this photo served as a Civil War prison under the direction of Henry Wirz who was tried and hung for the horrors at Andersonville |
