Enlarge Trenches Fort
Blakeley
These trenches are in the picnic area very close to a restroom. There is a
tombstone, which is not pictured in the scan. The tombstone appears to be
for a pet, whose name was "biscuit". The shade of the trees was very
welcome, and the trenches seemed to go on forever
We discussed with a man the recent incident in which horseback riders had
been riding their horses over the trenches. The horseback riders could not
understand that they were destroying history. The riders just suggested
that the dirt their horses were moving from the trenches be shoveled right
back in place after they were done, or someone just get more dirt from
somewhere else to rebuild the "jumping" area for their horses... |
