David Farragut monument - Madison Square Park near 26th Street. In 1881,
three members of the crew of Farragut's ship USS Hartford took part in the
memorials unveiling. The figure shows Farragut as if he were standing on a
ship perhaps ready to give the command to "Damn the Torpedoes". |
