Lew Wallace, commanding 3rd Div., Army of the Tennessee, stationed his 1st Brig.; Col. M.L. Smith, 1st Mo. Inf. Division command post was also hereabouts, it withdrew to join the Shiloh engagement the afternoon of Apr. 6, but arrived there too late to engage until the following morning |
