(2004) "The Bucktails" marker in the town of Smethport which is the county seat of McKean County. Colonel Kane mentioned on the plaque was from the nearby city of Kane. The city was founded by and named for General Kane in 1863 (Promotion) The "Bucktail" Regiment took part in many of the major engagements of the Army of the Potomac through May of 1864 |
