Belfast is in Allegany County, New York, approximately 60 miles SE of Buffalo, NY. The monument was erected August 20, 1915. The following article is from the September 24, 1915 Patriot newspaper.

The monument unveiled at the park in Belfast is a splendid granite shaft on a substantial base. It's ornamented on top with a ball and eagle. The latter has out-spread wings. The four sides are engraved with the names of the battles in which many of the soldiers of Belfast took an active part. These are the Wilderness, Five Forks, Cold Harbor, and Gettysburg. Above the bronze tablets on the four sides on which are raised letters setting forth the names of all the soldiers from the town and vicinity both living and dead.
