(7-85) This 9-inch Dahlgren naval gun was originally mounted on the USS Hartford, famed flagship of Admiral David Farragut at the Battle of Mobile Bay. The location of the gun is unusual; it's in the corner of a motel parking lot in Hagerstown, MD. The marker at the left of the gun describes where the gun came from, but supplies no information as to why it is located at this particular spot

At the time this photo was taken, the motel was a Ramada Inn; today it has changed hands and is now a Clarion Hotel. Attempts to ascertain with the Clarion as to whether or not the gun is still located there have not been successful, although it probably is. With the barrel of the gun weighing in at 9000 pounds, it is doubtful it has been moved

Note:
On November 6, 2007, Craig Swain advised that the Dahlgren is no longer at the location above. Craig is not sure where the gun is now located. If anyone knows the present location of the Dahlgren please
