This Union monument keeps a silent vigil over the small New York village of New Berlin. It was erected on May 30, 1877, one of the oldest in New York state. It was erected only 12 short years after the close of The American Civil War. The Union sentinel, atop the monument, looks out over the large St. Andrews Cemetery, containg close to 150 Union soldiers.
