(3-95) Martin Cheairs House, Spring Hill. Built by Martin Cheairs in 1854. Home where Confederate General Earl Van Dorn was murdered by the jealous husband of Jessie McKissack Peters

            

(3-95) Nathaniel Cheairs House 1851, Spring Hill. In November 1864, after the fateful night of Schofield's escape past the sleeping Confederates, Hood met most of his officers here for breakfast. The fields north of the house are where General Bate's Division came in sight of the main pike and spotted Union troops marching north. He was called away by General Cheatham before any fighting occurred
