(July 17, 2010) Red River, near Montgomery, LA
 
Somewhere near this area the US Navy Gunboat "USS Eastport" was sunk. According to the ORN, Series I, Vol. 26, pp.168-9. On April 26, 1864 Col James B. Likens' 35th Texas Cavalry and Col James Harrison's 15th Texas Infantry along with Cornay's LA Artillery and Caudle's Sharpshooters on one side of the river and Liddle's command on the other side attacked the USS Eastport and other ships near this location
