(March 16, 2008) This is a nice view of the Red River taken at Boyce, Louisiana on March 16, 2008. Please read the warning sign and think. The Federal fleet under Admiral David Dixon Porter suffered from all of these hazards, as well as heavy fire from the Confederates during the Red River Campaign of 1864. In fact, it was such a disaster for the US Navy that an official investigation was held. Boyce was burned to the ground by the Federals during the Red River Campaign |
