The first church at Boggy Depot was organized by the Presbyterian missionaries, Rev. Cyrus Kingsbury and Rev. Ebenezer Hotchkin, in August, 1840
 
The church was used as a hospital during the Civil War

The Masonic Lodge, first in Oklahoma, was established after the Civil War
