(7-01) View of the wartime Adams County Prison on the south side of east High Street. On July 2, 1863 Robert E. Lee held a council of war in the building. The third story was added later. The prison is now a Gettysburg municipal building

(7-01) Erected in 1857, the High Street or "Common" School was the first consolidated public school in Gettysburg. By July 1, 1863 it became a hospital, housing wounded from the battle
