The Champion Hill section of CivilWarAlbum.com is dedicated to the memory of Brian Risher. Brian earned a Masterís degree in history from the University of Mississippi, and did his dissertation on the battle of Champion Hill. Following graduation, he taught high school special education and history in Desoto County, Mississippi, and was later the E-Learning coordinator and history instructor at Holmes Community College in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Brian was a friend that many of us in the Civil War circles have known, liked, and respected over the years, and was the main Champion Hill contributor here at CivilWarAlbum.com. Brian died on August 1, 2016, from complications following corrective heart surgery, and is survived by his wife Jamie Stokes Risher, their daughter Sophie, his extended family, and many, many friends.

Thank you, Brian, for all you have done for so many, especially here at CivilWarAlbum.com.
