The Jacob Summerlin Camp #1516 St. Cloud, Florida erected this monument to CSA veterans on April 22, 2006. The Confederate monument was extremely unexpected in St. Cloud, Florida because the Grand Army of the Republic, a Union veterans organization, purchased the lots to St. Cloud and sold them to its members. So many Union war veterans moved to St. Cloud that the local GAR Camp was the second largest in the nation, yet even a cursory inspection of this monument will show large numbers of Confederate veterans in an unexpected place.

This monument is located on US Highway 192 and New York Street In St. Cloud, Florida at the Veterans Park.

The Seminole Land and Investment Company, which was a part of the Grand Army of the Republic, sold the first hundred town lots in St. Cloud for 50 bucks apiece plus an additional 5 acre tract was given for each lot purchased, but after the first hundred lots have been sold, 25 foot lots were sold for hundred dollars. This continued until the last lots were sold in 1919.
